Dictionaries & Reference

Hmong lexicography is a small, remarkable corpus that runs from the missionary-linguist dictionaries of the 1960s to community-published works compiled by Hmong authors themselves. Because dialect and spelling system vary between dictionaries, we record both for every title; a White Hmong RPA dictionary will frustrate a reader expecting Green Hmong. These books rarely circulate widely, and several are the only ones of their kind, which is exactly why we catalog them.
