The Hmong, 1987-1995

A selected, annotated bibliography of Hmong-related work published between 1987 and 1995, issued in 1998 — the years in which Hmong studies became a field with its own literature rather than a subsection of refugee research. A hundred and sixty-three pages. Its usefulness now is historiographic: it shows what questions were being asked while the first American-born generation was still in school, and it catches government reports and resettlement studies from that period that are hard to locate any other way. Read as the predecessor to Pfeifer's bibliographies, which pick up later.
