Syntaktische Analyse einer gesprochenen Sprache
by Bettina Harriehausen · 2010
A syntactic analysis of spoken Green Mong, computer-assisted, from de Gruyter's linguistics list. Harriehausen worked from recorded speech rather than elicited sentences, which is the reason to care about it: most descriptions of Hmong syntax are built from what speakers say when asked, and this one is built from what they said. The second half places the findings in a comparative description of the Southeast Asian language area. It is in German and thoroughly technical. Its value to this catalog is the same as Lyman's dictionary — it documents Green Mong, the dialect that scholarship keeps skipping in favour of White Hmong, and there is very little else at this depth. For linguists with German, and for anyone who has wondered whether the standard grammatical descriptions actually match speech.
