Norma J. Livo

Norma J. Livo (1929-2021) was an American storyteller, folklorist, and professor of education who collaborated with Dia Cha to produce the first commercially published English-language collection of Hmong folktales. She wrote widely on storytelling as a teaching practice, and her Hmong work is distinguished from earlier missionary and anthropological collections by having been gathered in partnership with a member of the community rather than about it.
