Mai Der Vang

Mai Der Vang is a Hmong American poet from Fresno, California. Her debut collection Afterland won the Academy of American Poets' Walt Whitman Award and carried the Secret War and its aftermath into American poetry; her second collection, Yellow Rain, investigates the contested history of chemical warfare allegations in Laos. She came up through the Hmong American Writers' Circle in the Central Valley.
