Resource Scarcity and the Hmong Response
Robert G. Cooper
Studies
Robert G. Cooper is an anthropologist who conducted fieldwork among Hmong villages in northern Thailand in the 1970s. Resource Scarcity and the Hmong Response, published by Singapore University Press in 1984, is his account of how swidden farming households responded to shrinking land and forest — an economic reading of Hmong settlement patterns that is still cited in the literature on highland agriculture and migration.
