Mai Neng Moua is a Hmong American writer and a founder of Hmong American literature's institutions: she created the literary journal Paj Ntaub Voice and edited Bamboo Among the Oaks, the first anthology of Hmong American writing, published in 2002. Her memoir The Bride Price examines tradition, family, and refusal through the story of her own wedding. She lives in Minnesota.
