Queering the Hmong Diaspora
Kong Pheng Pha
Studies
Kong Pheng Pha is a Hmong American scholar working at the intersection of critical refugee studies, ethnic studies, and queer theory. Their research examines how the arrival of Hmong refugees in the United States was narrated through American anxieties about race, gender, and sexuality, and what that framing has meant for queer Hmong people living inside a story that assumes they do not exist. They teach and publish in Hmong studies.
