White Hmong-English Dictionary
Ernest E. Heimbach
Dictionaries
Ernest E. Heimbach compiled the standard White Hmong to English dictionary while working with Hmong communities in northern Thailand in the 1950s and 1960s. First issued by Cornell University's Southeast Asia Program in 1969 as the White Meo-English Dictionary and reissued in 1997, it has remained in print for decades and underlies much of the later lexicographic work in the Romanized Popular Alphabet.
