Anne Fadiman

Anne Fadiman is an American essayist and reporter. The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, her account of a Hmong family and the Merced, California hospital that treated their daughter's epilepsy, won the National Book Critics Circle Award and became a standard text in medical and nursing education. She is not Hmong; her book is the most common outside door into Hmong history, which is why it is in this catalog.
